    There’s a version of “Some Enchanted Evening” on The Comedy Network that I’ve seen nowhere else; it starts like “Bart the General,” following the long Season 1 opening sequence into the town before fading into the Simpsons’ neighbourhood, then into the opening scene (with no blackboard). Does anyone else know anything about this?

    (In syndication, the short opening sequence from Seasons 2-20 is used, followed by the couch “non-gag.”)

    This was originally going to be the first Chalkboard Gag. Since this was followed by the Normal Couch Gag, which was going to be the First Couch gag, and there being a Pilot Episode of This Episode, then we can assume that this Episode was originally going to be the first episode. However, due to the Date, they switched it to be the last episode of Season 1, and made Simpsons Roasting on a Fire the first episode.
